    [Misc] TASKalfa 6052ci

Just curious if anyone has had the issue of seeing the developer and drum units where the grey latch (as I call it) won't stay in place when pushed in.
Had to replace the black units and noticed the yellow and cyan units were not locked in.
I have changed components in the past without any problem. I have seen some machines where the customer has tried to remove the units thinking they were
toner cartridges and released the units and I would reseat and lock in without a problem.

I did discuss with Kyocera USA support and their database indicated there had been a similar issue(s) and resolved by replacing the drum/developer units as there was nothing
else related to resolve the problem.

Appreciate any replies from anyone else who might have had this happen.

    Thanks
    Ed

I have experienced the same problem with some of my two series. I was told by Kyocera support to change the offending developer unit and put it in for warranty return. And that's OK if it's still under warranty.

What I have done to one unit that wasn't under warranty was to stick a bit of paper next to the button so it wouldn't come undone. See the attached pictures.

That was last week. Haven't heard anything as yet. We shall see.....

opps. Got the pics out of order when I attached them.

      Greatly appreciated.
In my case the unit is under warranty but I will give your suggestion a try.

Our techs are driving a small sheet metal screw into the gap between the button and the cover. It holds and is easily removed. It's not a great design.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

            I agree with you Blackcat.

It is not a great design.

Those engineers must have been watching an old Inspector Clouseau movie where he's talking about the poppout lighter in the car. They must have thought the poppout button on the developer units are a great idea.

I am just glad the design actually gives us a easy fix to the problem.
