    TA3551ci / C2840 code

After searching the forum and consulting the manual, it looks like the most likely culprit is the transfer cleaning motor located near the yellow drum. However, I couldn't find a lot of info when I searched the old threads. Anyone have any advice? As always, thank you.

Not for this model exactly but similar I guess:

Thanks. I read that post by KYO-OEM. I called it the transfer cleaning motor, but I was referring to the waste toner motor.

A little off topic but KYO hasn't been around lately. I miss reading his posts.

Billy it's summer time here in Europe. I guess top techs need more rest. Hopefully he's refreshing for a new challenges.

          CS-3050ci, 3550ci, 4550ci, 5550ci Alphard Venus

"C1950", "C2840" errors after routine maintenance replacement of the primary transfer belt assembly.

Transfer belt EEPROM error and transfer cleaning motor errors. 32 pin connector from primary transfer belt unit to body in not completely seated.

Re-seat 32 pin connector to primary transfer belt assembly. Reset error with U906.

Years later I followed up another tech that had bent pins in the transfer unit connector. It was a bugger to find. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

There was no work done on the machine recently. They placed a service call today and the first thing I tried was U906.

I accidently bent a pin @ transfer unit connector on a machine that was here at the shop one time and ended up replacing the connector that's mounted in the frame. It was a bitch. I don't think the connector is the problem this time.

To make matters worse, the copier is in a busy medical office and there's barely any room to work. I'm actually considering bringing the machine back to the shop and giving them a loaner machine as I'm not sure of the fix and the customer is freaking out because this is the only machine in the office and they use it for everything.

              Re: TA3551ci / C2840 code

Looking back through my notes when I accidently bent the pin on the transfer belt connector this is what I found:

Problem: Error Code C2790 after pulling and reinserting primary transfer belt.

Solution: Found bent pin @ transfer belt connector @ rear frame. Replace connector to correct.

                That's pretty amazing!

It's kinda handy now, but wait until a few years have passed, and you've got 100K more records just like that. It'll be just like you did that fix just yesterday! Keep up the good work! =^..^=

Welp, I had never pulled the waste toner motor on a 3551ci before. Until now!!

It wasn't as bad as I thought it was gonna be but it was a little work.

"Well known" problem on older Venus.
Sometimes removing from stucked waste was helpfull.
Estimated time for me approx 30 minutes.
But it would done from me several times.

I decided to bring the machine back to the shop on Monday and when I plugged it up, the code never appeared and hasn't since I brought it here. I'm thinking the ride over here may have jarred the waste toner loose? I don't know???

In any event, I'm doing a 600k PM on the machine and I'm gonna replace the waste toner motor and bring it back to them next week.

I was actually looking forward to replacing the waste toner motor to see if the code cleared up. I feel cheated out of declaring victory.

EDIT: The toner motor in the picture was one that I pulled off a parts machine the other day. I haven't pulled the one from the customer machine yet. I've been busy with other stuff.
