I recently went to print quality call on a M5526. The customer was getting cyan streaks on the pages. Cleaned the Cyan image unit and after reassembling, restarted machine and got the 7901 error code. This involves the EEPROM for the K image unit. Replaced the K drum unit. No joy. Have been told to update firmware, but do not have access to said firmware. Can anyone help here? I know it's a big ask, but please help a guy out. Thanks in advance.

I went back this morning and used the update tool twice with no luck. Got a did not update and then a cannot confirm update messages. What might my next step be? Board replacement?

Just curious, did you happen to clean that whole carriage out? I've had those get pretty dusty, especially if you're not using genuine toner. Also, ensure weak ribbon cables are clean and fully seated in, including the connector on the front of the machine, ensuring there are no bent pins.Comment

first of all i would take care for ALL flat cables on process unit.
There is a serial data stream, maybe another drum or dv wouldn`t connected in the right way.
black drum is the first component in this stream, if e.g. yellow dv ffc cable would fitted in the right way, stream is blocked and no answer for bk drum sn request...
I do not know if you get U000 service status page *.txt file by usb key in case of C7901, but you can try to get it for checking service status page last 2 lines on 2nd page.Comment

forget the update tool, update it the old school method. just make sure you get the correct files.Comment
