Ah, you got me there; my training is less, erm, formal than that. But then I didn't know that was a problem?

Ok Fix your experience to end user not tech as you are not a copier/printer tech.
Use original toner and you may have to replace the drum / developer units due to contamination to correct this issue. In any case a Trained Kyocera Tech can repair this but it will cost more than the savings you had with the cheep toner. It Always will. You can pay for it in the beginning or your will have to pay more for it in the end no matter what you do.Larhal

After a while techs can hear when you're lying to us. Believe me when I say it doesn't help to lie to us.
I was getting exactly that same feeling Larhal. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Woah there, I wasn't lying, I was asking a question to gather some help and opinions (gratefully received, thanks). When I registered on here a year or so ago, as I was inside the guts of a Toshiba copier at the time as I recall, I didn't feel even slightly amiss describing myself as an "Experienced Tech" having spent my entire career in and around IT and hardware (much more a production-level scanner guy as it happens).
Am I trained by a manufacturer of copiers and is my main day job repairing copiers; no. but with all due respect, and I have much, Larhal can't claim that either, can he. If you want a screwdriver duel at first light to settle it though, I'm up for it... As I said, I am quite handy with a screwdriver!Comment

[QUOTE=HeMan;n1576359] Larhal can't claim that either, can he.
I started fixing Xerox copiers back in the late 1970 early 1980 and yes I was Xerox trained in Rochester New York. Also factory trained with Ricoh and Cannon. Worked on all brands. How about you ? Scanners? Oh Boy. You have lost all of my support and I hope others see you as the poser you are. Good riddance to bad trash.

Indeed. I wouldn't want to judge if someone who may (or may not, I don't know) have been out of the industry for 5, 10 or even 15 years is any more or less entitled to the title of copier-God than I. I sort of wish you had extended me the same courtesy though...Comment

So, regardless of the discussion above, it’s now clear that non genuine toner is the cause. If you put genuine toner in, will it be fixed? Short answer, no. If you were my client, I’d quote you four toners, four developers and four drums, or possibly a full maintenance kit. Check out the cost of that and see if that’s a saving over using genuine products. The supplier of the non genuine toners guarantees their product? Hahahah. Try sending them the bill for the repairs and see how far you get. No care, no responsibility. I’ve been in this game since 1986 and I’ve seen soooo many machines destroyed by generic toner it isn’t funny. I’ve seen it where a client has put a cartridge in first thing in the morning and it’s all in the waste box by lunchtime. They said to me “I’ve been using these cartridges for years!” I checked the box this one came in against the others in the cupboard. Was a different box and their supplier had changed their supplier. It’s like Russian roulette with generics. In the last ten years with a Kyocera dealer I’ve only seen generic toners work ok with the low end mono printers. Every high end mono or or mid to high colour device has been affected in some way, often catastrophic requiring a service call and expensive parts. Can you fix your machine without replacing parts? Probably. You’re an experienced guy, so you should know what to do. Good luck.👍 3Comment
