Your thoughts on the Kyocera M8124CIDN color machine?

Hi Guys, I have a church that requested a quote on an 11x17 full color machine that they will be doing about 25K per year & they want a service agreement with it. Is this a good model to go with (Kyocera M8124cidn)? They're volume is so low, I thought this would be a good fit being they need 11x17 & it comes standard with the 50-sheet RADF.

Please share your thoughts on this model, I like that it comes with Doc feeder on it instead of having to choose all the separate D.F's ,, it will have 2 drawers & cabinet. I am quoting them a service agreement that does NOT include the toner... I never have luck including toner, they always use pictures & colorful bulletins, so I don't include the toner.

    Thanks

I can't really speak to the 8124 as I have not seen any but, I have seen the 2551. From what I can tell it looks to be the same design. To be fair all the 2551's I have worked on were already in the field when I started working on Kyocera, so I have no idea of the history of each machine. I had about a dozen of them and it was a constant struggle to keep the developing units in working order. I was having to replace some developing unit somewhere two to three times a month. All fairly low volume and maybe that was part of the issue, I don't really know. Other than that they were pretty solid for paper feed and image quality. Hopefully they have improved the design for the 8124.

No problems with the few we've sold. Seem to be decent machines.
      Hope that helps !

25k a year is a perfect fit for this model. At the end of its five year life cycle it’s not likely you’ll have had to replace anything. Just make sure you give the machine a good check over prior to the kyocera Warranty running out in case any consumables are showing signs of wear. Show the client how to clean the ADF pick up rollers and that’s about it. M8124 and M8130 are great boxes in this situation.

I agree, a decent economical machine for the price. Like you, I put them under contract parts and labor on all my color machines at .03/copy for everything, they pay for toner. Seems to work out pretty well for both us and the customer. You don't get screwed by the ones that make full page color copies and prints all the time, those models aren't the best on their yeilds.
