    Kyocera Fleet Services

Has anyone else noticed that machines will fall of KFS and not generate a toner notification and then come back online just in time to run out of toner?
Apparently our supply manager has noticed this happening for about 3-4 weeks.

We had that at a School Board some time ago. It turned out that they had blocked ports on some of the servers that KFS uses. Once they opened those ports we had no issue for years.

We were beginning to think that as well, but at least one other account did the same thing. Usually, we keep the firmware up to date, so Im at a loss.

If I'm having an issue, I'll change them to monitored to troubleshoot. This allows only outgoing from the machine and can help determine if it's firewall related.
As a side note, the new machines have XMPP as the default connection protocol with KFS. I asked and was told to leave it that way and it would be changed in firmware when they are ready to switch to MQTT.
And we haven't seen any issues with connection to KFS.
          Hope that helps !

6 months ago we had a few machines that were not sending low toner alerts. The connection status would be weeks old. I did firmware on them and that seemed to resolve it. To be honest i think it just needed a reboot.

Interestingly enough here is a machine that is jamming and it shows 2 days since it last connected enough though the device logs show all the recent jams. PFM...

I had a 3253 that fell off KFS. I remoted the customers computer. Everything was set correctly, DNS, Gateway.
I used the DRT tool and connected to the copier, diagnostics completed fine but it wouldn't let me remove the registration. The buttons were greyed out. Customer kicked me off as he was leaving. Few days later the machine magically came back online but you couldn't pull snap shots. Few days after that snap shots worked. PFM..

it may very be firmware related. I try to keep them up to date, but since February, its just been me. I noticed yesterday, that several 04's were at behind.

If it is available I will typically set the weekly timer to reboot once a week. Usually in the wee hours and always making sure the organization doesn't have scheduled reports during the few minutes it will be out of commission. I have found this process keeps machines from falling off of KFS, not all but most of the time.
