Copies is at a school which is in a wider network. Scaner set up was made by a teacher and worked fine. Teacher left and a new take over and made some changes . Now machine doesn not scan. I tried to set up again scaner with thw known way but i fail. any idea?

Hi Gab,

Like Saturn said above what type of scan is used on the mfp?
First of all you should check for network related changes like ip adress class, DNS or computer name.
If scan to smb is used, can be a authentication, host name or network path issue . Can be also a restriction from firewall or antivirus for port 139 and 445.

In order to help you more please provide for us error code shown on mfp after you are trying to make a scan. ex(1101, 2102)

Same. One of our guys created an executable that we run to install it. It pokes the necessary hole in the firewall, creates the scan folder, sets the user name and password and sets read write permissions. Does al this in less than ten seconds All we need to do then is the address book. So if doing one person it literally takes a minute

ok but what are you using, filezilla or print center? maybe there is something wrong with that executable? worst case i would do it the old school method, not use an executable.

It installs FileZilla server. We have been using it for years and it works perfectly. We are blessed to have someone on our team that is smart enough to have created it. It’s a massive time saver. Now there is also a filzilla available for Mac.

have you discussed the issue with the IT department? i would almost bet they are blocking filezilla.

Kyocera scan to SMB setup tool is renown for being simple and effective for scan to folder. It creates the shared folder permissions, does the whole job.

5501i only has SMB 1 on it. The teacher probably enabled SMB 1 on the computer which is not recommended and turned off by default my Microsoft due to being unsecure. Your best bet is to make sure the firmware is up to date and setup scan to email.
