    Kyocera Ecosys 6535- Pauses

    Another odd one to us
6535 with appx. 100K on it (only 900 pages color) has recently started to pause while copying/printing and continues to cycle during the job. If you select 10 pages to be copied either B&W or Color, it prints 2 or 3, pauses, prints a couple more, pauses, another, pause, and then completes the job. Machine is cycling like it might be calibrating possibly, but image quality is perfect. Does the same on print jobs. No error codes, no copy quality issues, firmware is current. The only idea I could come up with is that the color toners (still the original starter toners) are all below 10%. None of them are calling for replacement yet but maybe it's trying to add toner? But then again it does it when running black and white only and that toner is almost full. All original parts are in the machine at around 100K and Maint. kit is rated for 200K.

    Thoughts or ideas appreciated.

    Thanks
    Chris

More than likely, the spring is missing off of the paper pick up unit. For whatever reason, they won't show jam, but will keep trying until they are able to pick the paper out of the tray.
      Hope that helps !

tmaged is correct! seen this a few times, new type of feed assy has a new spring that will not come off.

          Thanks for the help Tony

The spring you're referring to I'm guessing is on the paper present sensor flag? When that happens do you hear the feed unit trying to engage as if it's looking for paper? This just sounds like it's running but I can't hear any clutches or solenoids trying to engage. Sorry for the questions, the unit is in a dentist's office and isn't always readily accessible thanks to COVID

I think the spring he's referring to is the spring on the pickup roller/feed roller assembly. It presses the pickup roller down against the paper stack.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
            1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
            2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
            3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
            4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
            5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Check spring and replace feed rollers. Have had this issue several times as we have a ton of these devil machines out...lol

First Thing i ask techs if they call me regarding this Problem:
Same Problem if you use the MPT?
Mostly i get the answer: didn't try it.
After they tried, MPT works well.
Look for the feed rollers will be my answer.

That's crazy. How long did that take to isolate?

I can't take credit for it, my Kyocera rep told me about it.

Look up bulletins H206 & G081 for various models. The spring has been updated to hook on the feed unit, to keep it from coming off.

A couple of our techs were losing the spring consistently, during the roller change. =^..^=

I think they would sometimes pop out on jam removal, too. I'll never understand why some customers just discard parts. It happens too frequently.

Thanks for the help. Finally got the parts in from Kyocera today, and it worked like a champ! Good to know for future machines. Thanks again

Maintenance kits including a pick up assy with no spring didn't help.
