PCLXL Error / Incomplete print jobs

Went on a call for a 3554ci that was getting PCLXL errors today. I did all the usual things:
Used Acrobat instead of Edge for PDF's.
    Changed emulation / GDI mode.
    Updated firmware.
Installed a local driver instead of using server share.
Tried using the Kyocera Net Direct Print.
All changes didn't affect the PCXL errors, but I did notice sometimes after about 5 printed pages, the job would
disappear from the queue on the machine like it was complete.
Printing from a flash drive worked fine.
I called the hotline, gave him my troubleshooting and the first thing he asked me "is the network cable running through a surge?"
I had to look, but sure enough it was. He had me go direct from the wall jack to the machine and the issue went away.
My customer also said they got PCLXL errors on Excel spreadsheets.
He said they started seeing it about 6 months ago with both PCLXL & partial print jobs.
Hopefully this saves someone some time in the field.
    Hope that helps !

I discovered this long ago with these surge units. They do a great job on the electricity, but not so good on the data ports (or maybe a really good job on the data ports because print jobs don't work correctly).

As more and more machines became connected to networks, I noticed in most all cases the power to the networking equipment was very well shielded and/or filtered. That is why I never use the data port portion of a good power filter.

      That's great! Good catch!
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
