[Jamming] DF-7120 - Ejects squint when staple option is used.

Evening all. I have a DF-7120 that is misbehaving when trying to staple.

    Failure mode -
When staple fucntion is used (Either corner OR 2 position) the finisher ejects the paper squint before trying to staple. NOTE: The paper passes through correctly when no staple option is used and the copier is under normal operation.

Ther staple unit does staple, buit it misses the paper. Wasted folded staples all sitting on top of the staple cartridge or in the void area under the staple unit. Stapler unit appears to be stapling correctly, paper is jsut not lining up as it coming out hella squint.

    Steps taken so far -

Ensured FW is at latest (Unit is paired to a UTAX 5008ci).

Performed U246 adjustments. Initial settings were set to -7 Width Front and +6 Width Tail with all other values at Zero.
I reset these to 0 to see if this was causing the issue but it made no difference whatsoever to the failure mode - set these back to factory after testing.

Removed Staple Unit (Entire section, not just the staple cartridge) and checked for obvious signs of damage, still looks brand new - is still on its original staple cartridge with about 1/4 reamining in the mag.

Dusted out unit incase there was debris blocking a sensor, again, still all looks brand new inside.

Checked operation of the Side "Cursors" which appear to be working correctly.

I have attached a still image from the video I took of the failure mode, you can see the paper has ejected about 1 to 2cm higher at the rear edge and the 2 sheets I was putting through as test do not line up on top of each other. In back to back runs this failure mode is consistant - always the same offset.

Any ideas on where I should begin on this? I have had no failures on any of my DF units before so this is uncharted territory for me!

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

How bizzare. On your quote reply I even see the gif playing. I will get an imgur link sorted when I get back to my desk in the morning.

When you remove the top cover & the metal plate underneath it, you can see the gray rubber paddles that pull the pages back in. I use forceps to pop them off the shaft.
If you don't have new ones to install, you can flip them over. The edge of them should be square. They get rounded off from the paper.
          Hope that helps !

Sharp internal finishers had "knurled" belts that pulled the paper back in. They rode on this little arm with a sensor on a motor to raise them up and down. When the belts wore out you would get missed staple jobs. Sharps were usually toast after 400k prints. PIA to change. How long do the 7120 or 7110 last?

I think it just depends. I've had some with 2.5mil that I've never had to mess with and 750k I've had to change.
              Hope that helps !

Hi Tony, thank you for that. Will get it on it when the client opens back up after the festivities.

I will get a few sets of those paddles ordered up as I have a few of these approaching similar age/counts and will be good to have them on hand.

                Cheers for the info!

Update on this if anyone else has my issue.
It wasn't the rubber feed tyres/sprockets.

Turned out that there was a mylar guide in the adjusting tray section that had folded over on itself, just beside the adjustment cursors. I managed to get this folded back into place and straightened out to great success.

Thanks all for your insight and suggestions.
