Rainbow scans 1st page rest fine after 4002ci

Randomly throughout the day if the customer scans the first page through the DP scanned image is a rainbow, the following pages are always fine.

I played about with the machine and did a scan to usb and the attached is what I got. I did another scan straight after and it was fine.

We've tried main scanning unit under glass, engine board, latest fw, recalibrated scanner using test sheet, tweaking scan settings etc.

It's only ever done it on the first side of scan and we've only seen it when going through the DP so far.

My next trip will be a main board. Anyone got any ideas?

It was fed into the DP long edge first so it does look like a processing problem.

I'm thinking about the CCD or at least reseating all the connectors between the exposure lamp, CCD, all the way back to the main board.

Another thing I'm thinking about: On most machines if you press the DP closed switch it lights the exposure lamp for a few seconds. If you do this a couple times, I wonder if you wouldn't see one end of the exposure lamp not lighting up, or lighting dimly. The Sharp Cougar had a Xenon exposure lamp, and when it began to fail you would see something similar. It showed as a blackening at the ends of the lamp. Iris probably has an LED exposure lamp, but might conceivably be failing somehow. I would also check that all the mirrors are secure in their mounts.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I did the ccd already and reseated every connector from ccd to engine to main.

I ruled out lamp just from it never doing it so far from the glass. Very strange one never had it before. I'll try main board then if that don't work I'll try the lamp.

If I were faced with this I would be inspecting the scanner to be sure it is moving freely to the proper position and making sure the DP is sitting squarely and flush on the platen. It seems to me there was an issue with the xx02 series involving the scanner cable being too tight. As I recall the fix was to loosen the scanner drive motor assemble and give the cable some slack.

        FWIW I hope this helps.

I agree with Lunatech regarding scanner drive.
We have had several problems with the scanner driving belt, get's hardened.
          Mostly first page scanning problem.

Just curious what has transpired with this. Success?
