[Misc] TASKalfa 4053 Faint Scan Issue (Scanback to desktop pc)

I have a customer who is experiencing faint scans when sending to their desktop.
I was unable to do a toner curve adjustment to see if this relates to the scan issue.
The firmware is up to date and I will next look at the image components as a possible issue.
I suspect a good cleaning of the charge rollers might resolve my toner curve adjustment issue.

I wanted to ask if there was a relationship to the faint scanning and toner curve adjustment.
The prints that come out to perform the toner curve adjustment don't look too bad...

I would think the scan back to a computer would be optics related but thought I would ask fellow techs.

Thanks as always for any input.

    Regards
    Ed

    Samples? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

The only sample I have at the moment is enclosed. Not sure if it helps.
Once I visit the client today I will try and get better samples.

Toner curve adjust prints a chart and then scans the chart. If your optics are dirty/hazy the scan will fail.

Dirty/hazy optics will also cause light/blurry scans/copies while internally printed pages (counter list/toner curve chart/status pages) and pages printed from a PC or fax will print fine.

Make sure you have properly cleaned your machine from the Doc Feed to the paper cabinet (including optics) and see how things look.

Tone Curve unrelated to scan quality.

            MM412 + p/n 7505000005 for scan calib

If dual scan feeder run 2-2 scan and check backside(CIS) vs front(CCD)

Check scan rails and mirror sliders.

It also might be helpful to know if the sample scan is running letter R or letter speed.

Re: TASKalfa 4053 Faint Scan Issue (Scanback to desktop pc)

Just to advise that I was able to visit the client.
I checked the optics and also drum / developer units and ended up cleaning the charge rollers although there was no real build up.
I was then able to do a calibration and toner curve adjustment.
I then did some scans of several documents letter. letter R, and legal size with good results.
I tracked down one of the end users and asked to use one of his samples that wasn't coming out very well.
Using the normal scan without doing any adjustments within the scan to email address the result was OK but not great.
When using the same original and adjusting within the address of sender I could darken from normal to darker with an acceptable result.

I was advised by Kyocera technical that I can go to Adjustment/Maintenance Send Box and from there adjust the default transmission / stored document density for manual mode.

I will give that a try.
Thanks for the replies which were greatly appreciated.
