    ECOSYS M3040dn Waste Toner Bottle full Problem

    Hello friends,

    i have a Olivetti Version of the Kyocera ECOSYS 3040dn (same Machine, different Name) where the customer gets the message that the Waste Toner Box is full even though it just got switched for a new one 10 Minutes ago. So this is a Sensor Error i figured.
    Last week, i took the Machine apart, cleaned everything that would have to do with the Transport of the Waste Toner into its box, i got the call from the customer that the error returned just a day after i was there.

    I need help with this now as i am out of ideas right now

      Do a search on here. I recall something about sunlight affecting the sensor.

          I posted a while back on a 3655 in afternoon sunlight that would read WT full. I rotated the machine 90 degrees and problem went away. Then I just put a piece of cardboard next to the machine to block the sunlight when the machine was in its original position just to confirm it was light affecting the sensor. I had to try that to convince the customer it was sunlight causing the issue and to get them to move the machine.

              Sunlight isnt it. Thought about that before going to the customer but when i went there i saw that the MFP is in a Dark Room without windows and only a very low light level. The brightest light source is the display of the MFP

                  Most likely a failing WT toner full sensor. As always it's worth updating the firmware.

                      An optical sensor in that section of the machine can get contaminated with waste toner easily. Cleaning might do the trick. =^..^=
                      If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

                          I had a machine fail to detect the waste bottle presence suddenly after a storm. It would not read the output of the photodetector part of the sensor, and I had to replace the board. You can see the invisible sensor light source using a phone camera pointed at the bottle neck area of the machine without the bottle installed, to verify that it's at least getting power to that part and that the shutter isn't jammed.
