Kyocera Copystar CS 308ci black spots on page

    Hi
I'm trying to help out a friend. They have a cs 308ci. The problem is that the black developer unit is getting hardened "ink" spots on the glass roller. And that is leaving black spots on the printed pages. The ink can be carefully removed from the glass surface but it starts building up again after a few days. Not sure what else to check.
    Any help is appreciated
    Thanks

Those spots are usually caused by elevated internal temperature. There are a few things that you can do to minimize that:
    * shorten up sleep time or enable Silent Mode (or whatever they're calling it these days). The machine will run cooler and all the consumable will last longer.
    * make sure that your fans are all running and the filters are clear. Maximum airflow helps.
    * and I'm hoping that this is genuine Copystar toner.

You may be able to clean the drum will a soft cloth and paraffin lamp oil, then alcohol to remove the residue. Do not let chemicals contact the drum blade. Or replace the drum unit and calibrate.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

well that isn't glass.... and that machine doesn't use ink, it uses toner. best bet is to replace the imaging unit.
