    FS1128MFP

Hi Friends from around the world

I have a relatively simple query... On previous models of Kyocera machines there were two codes to get into the service mode, 1087 1087 and 3036 3036. The 3036 3036 was the powerful code that allowed you to do whatever you wanted in the service mode, including adjustments/changes that could not be made using the 1087 1087 code. I've noticed that the latest models does not support this code anymore and I'm hoping that somebody can shed some light on what the new "Top Secret" code is.

One of the reasons i ask is, because today i had a FS1128MFP with a main board that failed, and trangely, as a result, the machine was dead, as if the power supply gave in. I had no other choice but to take a board from one of my stock machines and fit it to my customer's machine. When I powered it on, it immediately came up with the C0180 code (Serial number mismatch), even though I fit the original PCB's chip to the replacement PCB. After playing around in Service mode for a while i discovered that if you go to U004 after the C0180 code is displayed, it gives you to serial numbers, one marked as "Machine Number" and the other "Engine Number" but both are different.

The Machine number is the serial of the stock machie from which i took the replacement PCB and the Engine number matched that of my customer's machine. I discovered that if you scroll down past this info, there is a option called "Execute", if you run this, then it changes the machine number so that it matches the engine number, thus solving the C0180 code problem. However, there is one more problem... there serial numbers on the chips match, but the meter reading on the machine is completely wrong. If I go into the service mode and print the Maintenance list in U000, right at the top of the page it displays the "life Count" which is correct, as well as under U928, but when i try to view the meter reading from the System Menu, or on the Status page print out, it gives me that of the brand new stock machine, which is currently siiting below 15 copies.

So, if anybody can help, I'd appreciate it. If somebody could also help with the same info on the FS1118MFP that would be awesome. AND one last thing, is there anyway to turn of the display of "Unknown Toner Installed" during startup if we make use of generic Toners.

I would to thank all of you for your assistance and Time.

    Regards

I don't know if this still applies, but a long time ago when I was working on a FS-9250, I installed a maintenance kit. When I powered on the machine, something went worng and it was still asking for maintenance.

I rang Kyocera and they sent me down an FRPO command to send to the print to adjust the count of the drum unit (as the drum unit didn't rest the life count). Maybe Kyocera could provide you with an FRPO command to adjust your meter count?
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.

I would've done that, but the problem is my company is not an authorized Kyocera dealer/repair centre so i dont think they'll give me a lot of help. We're actually a Triumph-Adler dealer/repair centre, which, if you dont know, basically is a kyocera with different colour covers and a different name. I've contacted our supplier, who in turn needs to contact their supplier, but the guys are a bit sticky when it comes to sharing sensitive info like this.

your FRPO command suggestion is a good one. I'll see if i can dig up a command for that. I will eventually sort this problem out, and post the solution.

      Regards

usually the boards in those series are"married" together eg. engine board/main board via ROM chips, the chips whose responsible for the basic machine information like serial and meter. if you try to replace one board might as well replace the other board as well from a "cannibalized" unit (see eg) or replace the chips along with the set.
about the toners i think the cartridge have chips too.check to verify my info

After replacing the engine board, you must run sim 004 to match ser nos. Also, don't forget to switch the EPROM to the new board. Regards.... Jeff M.

Since you ran U004, the machine destination may be reset to "0". Sim U265 should be "2" for Kyocera Mita, "66" for Copystar. Sorry, I don't know the codes for Triumph-Adler, Utax, Gestetner, or any of the other Kyocera clones. Maybe you can get the code from another TA machine. Please post it when you find out.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
            1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
            2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
            3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
            4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
            5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
