You guys need a good laugh. Ready? Envelopes!!!!!!

Sigh.....I have this customer that's a law firm. They have a KM-3050 and insist on running #10 envelopes through the bypass. Of course this works well sometimes and sometimes it wrinkles the bat crap out of it.

Anybody any good at getting these things to be consistant? Already had to explian they are too cheap to run the A/C so they need to keep them fresh.

    Done laughing? Ideas?

    Ha ha ha ha ha....

I hate envelopes for all the reasons you already know. Folded multiple layers of paper tend to skew, wrinkle & jam in the best environment. Throw in humidity and you can just forget it. There isn't even any sort of pressure adjustment on the Falcon III, not that it would help much.

But you already know all this. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

      Hi, Jimbo1
Try this brand if you can get them. told they work well in Kyocera printers but i have not tried them in the copiers.
} Use DL Envelopes from Tudor and Officeworks DL Peel-n-Seal

Possibly adding insult to injury...... Get a Sharp. Most new Sharp MX/MXM machines have a function for printing onto envelopes without any creasing. By changing the fuser pressure (done automatically on the new series, done manually on first series MX), it allows the 2 layer paper envelope to pass through without creasing or jams. We have heaps of clients regularly using the Bypass with envelopes..... from the cheapest, crappiest stuff you can buy, through to top quality envelopes..... no problems.

Say whatever you want about Sharp, but the envelope feature works great and I've never had a problem with it.

I'm sure that you know the basic principles. Reduce fixing pressure (~3.0 mm nipp), increased fixing temperature (~190 C). The temperature adjustment is easy enough. You can even create a custom media type, but fixing pressure is fixed. The only option is to dig through that giant box of springs to find weaker springs. Then since it's a static setting there's always the risk that the 75 gm/m2 paper won't fuse. It sucks to be you. =^..^=

Hah!! we solved this for one of our customers, we put a printer in just to do envelopes. saved us hours of work and enhanced our company reputation.

this was after I did try to make a modified tray to sit inside the the #1 tray. fuser got me everytime. no real adjustment.
Sorry folks, reputation removed by Just Manuals, because he's a sad little wanker

Yeah...well the Sharp isn't an option here. I used to work on those and have varied opinions. Lot's of it appears made by Mattell.

If I go back out I may have to try the fixing temp. Haven't been there yet. He's about tired of trying different envelopes. Trying to shovel it into the lap of my service manager.

Sounds like you guys love "envelopes" like the Ricoh/Savin guys do

Most of the Ricoh machines just wrinkle the heck out of envelopes as well.

"The salesman said it would run my envelopes with no problems. He also told me the machine could print on card board, stuff envelopes while printing them, and it would never break. Are you the senior tech at your establishment? If not we need to get someone out here who can fix our machine."

Tell them that running envelopes through the copier is bad for the enviornment, and if they continue to do it you will have to report them to the EPA.
