    KM 2540-3060 copy quality

    Hi all,
Been having intermittant copy quality issues with these machines, getting background on and off, checked corona units, replaced drum unit, checked drum/corona contacts in machine itself, check, replace dev unit, can resolve the issue but sure enough it comes back eventually, have had it on two or three machines so I'm figuring you guys have surely come across these issues,I know there is a couple of bulletins about these issues but I haven't found anything the has worked 100% for me yet(havent replaced the corona contacts in the machine).Dont think its a toner issue as the problem can be solved if only for a while by fiddling with corona unit/contacts etc, Considering pulling in one of these machines to have a good go at it but if anyone has a difinitive solution i could try I'd be grateful for the easier solution. Thanks in advance..

It's usually primary charge. I have had very disappointing results with restringing primary charge units. Replacing the charge unit seems to be the only way. If it's been allowed to arc for too long the drum will be ruined also. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

blackcat, have tried new main charge,no joy,
took off hv board, check clean contacts,my feeling is the terminal spring where the main charge unit contacts in the machine are the cause,am in the process of replacing this to rule it in or out once and for all.(think this part has been modified)have this problem with a few of these so will be happy to get a result.
kyo.team--optics are not the issue, the problem is internal, prints have the same problem.
        thanks for the input

Here are some samples I had from this week. I fixed it with a used main charge from a maint kit. In talking to our Kyocera service rep, he said it's the little white wheels, that keep the spacing for the main charge. If they don't get seated right, the main charge voltage is off or arcs. He said to install the main charge unit in the drum unit before putting it in the machine & make sure it's level all the way across.

            Hope that helps !

you are right sir if the main charge don't get seated right, it cause arc and cause black background on the copy....

Hi all, the solution was the terminal, the older type has a small hole in it which the spring can sometimes be forced into causing poor connection with the main charge. The part has been modified, but the simple solution in the field is to cut a small square of plastic perhaps with sticky backing on it on the terminal covering the hole,.sorted..
