    [Misc] Copystar CS-1635

Hi guys....I keep getting this re-occuring problem with streaking/dragging in duplex mode. It looks like main charge is dirty, kind of like on a Sharp al series(how it streaks on the sides) you clean the charger in the aL & its good. Well, on this 1635, it started with streaking on one side, (it wasn't cleaning in the D.U.) so I replaced the cleaning blade and it was good for a while, machine only had 6,000 pages on it. Then it started to drag/streak and so I replaced the whole drum unit at 8,872 pages about 2 months after doing the blade. ...well that was in June and I just got a call today, ...its streaking again...is there a bullitin or a known fix? I haven't been there yet, but I wanted to post to see if I could get some input before going in the morning.
    Thanks, Brian

If I'm reading this correctly, you've got a primary charge issue that you can fix, but is re-occurring. Or is there a second issue of drum cleaning?

If you have a primary charge issue don't waste your time with cleaning the primary wire & grid, or even re-stringing the unit. I have had very little success with anything but primary charge unit full replacement. Also make sure that your filters are clean and fans running.

Drum cleaning issues are rare on this model/series. Are you using OEM toner or something else? I haven't had much luck with any aftermarket mono-component toner. These are long life drums and I've rarely had to replace them early. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Yep...ONLY OEM toner, but its not a cleaning issue now, its a dragging issue, only in duplex mode as I stated. I just meant it looks like a dirty corona, but it only happens in the duplex mode. Any ideas? I wasn't sure if there was a bullitin update on this kind of problem.

        Dragging ...

The CS-1635 does not have a duplexer. So to make duplex copies the first sides must be put back in a tray, then copied again. I'm sorry to say that there is nothing you can do to prevent this. Whatever method of page separation is going to rub off some toner, then deposit it on the backside of the page at the leading edge. Sure you can clean the tires today, but tomorrow they'll get dirty again, guaranteed.

The only real answer is to sell you customer a machine with a duplex option. I have experimented with fuser temperature and pressure on other models, and it does not help, and can make it worse. =^..^=

Correction: the DU-410 is available, but I doubt that your machine has one. Sell them the option. =^..^=

WOW!!!!.....I guess your not a copystar guy or very familiar with them...The CS-1635 doesn't come with duplex, but can be added (du410). It is installed on the left side on the inner left door. I have about 30 of these in the field and this is the first time this problem has been a pain in the arse. I guess I will just have to go in the morning & find out whats causing it...I will post what I find.
          Thanks

Sorry. None of my 1635's have the duplexer. I just found it in the release bulletin.

I still just don't have any idea what dragging is. Can you post a scan? =^..^=

Hi blackcat...I went to the call, it appears there is a modification for moisture in the switchback section for duplexing. I am told its called a chinese mod...I am now looking for a supplier for this midification. I will post when I find it.
                Thanks for your input
