    Taskalfa 250ci fax problem..

We installed a new machine with a fax option. It didn't work - and we checked that the line worked OK.
Ordered a new fax unit (with the mem thingie), and installed it. It does not work either.
The same cards work in our show room, so there must be the controller?
I'm going down there with a new cable just in case too - but since it work on other machines..
Does this sound familier to anybody else?

Have you tried updating the firmware?

Use the cable that came with it, or make sure to use only a TWO wire line with cores installed.
        Hope that helps !

What type of fax card are you installing? When you install the fax card you must update the firmware, and initialize in sim U600. Start with those two first.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

            Remove the fax card.

update the firmware to the latest version.

            Add fax card

            then update same firmware again.

OK, I'll start by changing the cable. The firmware is the second newest. . I have just downloaded the latest. Will install that one too.
Oh yeah.. the fax card I'm installing is FAX System (C).

Yes! Firmware and cable did the trick

Thanks guys, I have now changed the firmware (don't know if I had to), and changed the cable (that was working fine on an old B/W Ricoh that we replaced).
                Now it works perfectly.

                  Hi Lotec

Check the cores of the old fax cable and then check the cores of the new cable. Either 2 core or 4 core.

                  This will/should answer your question.

Hi, they were identical multiconductor flat cables with a 6P4C modular connector in one end, and a 8P4C modular connector in the other end. 4 wires in other words.
Under closer inspection it seems like the crimp job on one plug was not quite up to standards - and may have been the reason why it didn't work.
Just a bit strange that it worked on the old B/W Ricoh.

I'm just glad it worked. Because now I can focus all my time on changeing drum units and fuser belts for the Ricoh color MFCs we have.

All the new machines are much more sensitive to fax trouble. It doesn't seem to be limited to the manufacturer. You HAVE to use only 2 wire lines with the ferrite cores installed. I had the exact same problem with a Sharp machine. Old machine worked fine the last 5 years, install a new one & it doesn't work. Put the cable on & it works fine.
                      Hope that helps !
