KM-2050 stuck at "Kyocera" at startup after kids play!!!

Small child playing with buttons on KM-2050 now when it's turned on it says loading program..... then goes to Kyocera logo and hangs, nothing responds. All front panel buttons are clear that I can tell.

Master reset? Any other ideas? Tech is ordering replacement keypad, but I believe it's software related and really need to get this copier running.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

It sounds like a key is stuck down.
I know what I know better than anyone else knows what I know.

      Firmware

If the copier won't boot, you probably have corrupt main firmware. It sounds as though you are probably are not a Kyocera tech. I can provide the firmware, but you'll need an 128MB Compact Flash Card and a reader/writer. You'll unzip the file. Format the card as FAT (not FAT32). Load the files to the flash card. Remove back cover to access the compact flash port (it isn't the easy to get one on the print board). Turn power Off. Insert CF Card. Power On, and most important: don't interrupt it until it says "Complete".

If you don't think you can do it call your local Kyocera Mita Tech.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Haven't seen that one before but it sounds like a stuck key would be something to look for, If not you should have the tech try to upgrade the firmware.

Our copier tech was at the office today and when I returned he had fixed the printer!!! I was told that they new keypad did not work, so I'm assuming that he reloaded the firmware. In any event, he did a good job in getting us back in business again. Credit where credit is due...

Do you still have the firmware

BlackCat4866 - We have a kyocera km-2050 that is acting up. Old lease turn in. I believe the firmware is corrupt due to the fact that as soon as the machine powers up it displays NOW PRINTING. This machine has been unpluged for months and has no conection to a pc or network to recieve the print job. But after a few seconds of this NOW PRINTING it displays an error to call support C4000.

Figured firmware is a good place to start.

I am in Davison, Pretty close to you. And have necessary devices to perfom operation.

-c4000= dead laser/polygon (or if you're lucky: bad charge in drum, but that really only applies to xx35-series). had one about a year ago. only major trouble ever had with 1620/50-2020/50 and 2550. good copier.
