    [Dead] TASKAlfa 250Ci Dead Keyboard.

    G'day all

    [Problem]
    TASKAlfa 250Ci dead keyboard.
Replaced the Fuser Unit. Reset the U163 fuser code.
Turned the machine on. Printed out a status page.
Then the keyboard went completely black like in standbye
mode, and now nothing works at all. I now have a TaskAlfa 250Ci with a completely dead keyboard. I have an Energy-Save LED and Memory LED working thats all.

    [Solutions]
1). Check the PWR supply for blown fuses and obvious burn-outs.
Check the CY7 connector on the Power supply PCB for 5 and 24 volt rails. These voltage rails are working fine. The PWR board as such is working fine.

2). Tried to do a firmware update to jog the Keyboard back to life; No Good. Tried using Boot-switch on keyboard PCB; no Good either. Tried both USB ports on the Keyboard and the back panel; we still have a black-out keyboard.

Have replaced the old fuser unit back into machine for testing. Still blacked out machine.

The memory light fickers on/off on the keyboard while doing a firmware jog/update from the back USB port only. Still nothing happens and keyboard is black.

Scanner moves back and forth and lights when lifting the doc-feeder. Cannot print from machine. Cannot Ping the machine.

This machine has had NO previous history of faults or error codes.

    Any ideas would be welcome.

I agree that this looks like a panel firmware issue. It is just coincidental that you happened to be standing there. What luck!
Was the main power at the switch Off before changing the fuser?

I think I'd start by trying to load firmware version 9.0, then if it took continue upgrading to current (11.0). Since panel firmware is the last to load I would wait a good 45 minutes to be absolutely sure that the panel firmware failed.

If that doesn't work, I'd try the CODE DIMM with firmware. And if that failed I'd order the op panel.

Just for kicks, does it ping or print? If yes, maybe it might accept a PreScribe command, like egre? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Believe it or not, I've also seen the memory DIMM on the main board cause this.

I have order the DIMM and Main Board RAM chips; I'm waiting for these to arrive.

i think its in the main board? but you must replace also the whole panel board or the keyboard before you installed the new Main board?
