[CQ] Toner spots on TaskAlfa 250ci

Has anyone else experienced these machines printing little spots across the page? (see image)
We have been resolving the issue by replacing drum units, and so far have not had any recalls. However, we have been getting a lot of these calls, and I was wondering if anyone is aware of the cause of this, or a different solution. Do the drum units need to be replaced, or is there possibly a sim change that can be made?

You isn't always easy to see the pattern, but it does repeat at 96.75mm intervals. I believe it is arcing from the primary charge roller, and don't think there is anything you can do preventatively.

The drums on the new Alphard series have a harder drum coating, and are better able to resist arcing/pinholes if that makes you feel any better.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

actually, yes. It does make me feel a bit better. That puts my mind at ease on 2 things. 1- I'm not wasting parts unnecessarily & 2- This shouldn't be something I will have to continue to worry about with Kyocera.

if the machine is in a high humidity area.....try to clean the charger unit with wet cloth.. it will help ro reduce the charge roller arching ... i think the latest firmware also help this issue....

after using the latest f.w (from version 10) only the arching started, this is my experience, and we started downgrading the machines at lest to version 8, now the damages come down.

                  Final solution.

Upgrade firmware to V12, replace the black DV-Unit. There's a bulletin out about this problem. Downgrading firmware doesn't solve it, upgrading does.

                        @ Eric,
The dots are specifically black. and we had sorted about 23 cases of Drum arching by downgrading the F.W. And the bulletin no were indicating about the arching of drum can reduce by upgrading the F.W.

I've done plenty of 250ci/300ci machines and when you upgrade to V12 and perform all adjustments they run pretty stable after that. The last firmware version also resolves a lot of quality issues. Here in Holland there's a warranty program for the black DV-Units.

@ Eric, could be you might have sorted with FW 12 and I expressed my experience, and we also have got warranty on BLACK DEV an Motor CLNG. But the spots are not only from black drum we are facing even with CLR drums.

Ive got the same problem here in South Africa!
I have a customer at the moment that needs all clr drums replaced and its only done about 58k prints!
Its a problem, because the machine is out of wrnt. and these drums are expensive!!! the complete maint. kit B is cheaper than 3 drums!
Don't know what to do anymore!!!
                              firm. is at ver 12.
