I have a CS 400ci that in the middle of a copy job started giving a magenta background, even in th blank areas of the page. Tested prints and they were O.K. Ran the 5 page grey scale adjustment twice, things got better, blank areas stayed white, but grey scales still have a magenta hue. Prints are still running O.K. Any thoughts? Tech support was closed on Columbus day, whodda thunk?

Re: CS 400ci magenta background.
What are your U131 Auto readings? It's a good indicator for overtoning when any color 25 is points lower than the reference.
Another possibility is the donut dots. It looks a lot like overtoning, but is really pinholes in the drum. The best way I've found to identify the pattern is to print a ledger size single color skyshot in Econoprint mode. If there is a pattern it will appear at 96.75mm intervals. Version 11 of the firmware is supposed to prevent this. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: CS 400ci magenta background.
Fairly even background, maybe a little worse as you get towards the middle of the page. Our in house machine was doing the same thing, a fresh flash and greyscale made it better. I am going to try this today and see if it makes a difference. I'll keep ya posted.Comment

Re: CS 400ci magenta background.
Version 11 of the firmware is awesome in fixing this. If it doesn't I suggest looking at the apply roller for Magenta. We've notice on a few machine some white contaminent getting on the apply roller. Just rotate it around and wipe it off.Comment

Re: CS 400ci magenta background.
Resolution: Broke down and bought (or, had my company buy) the scanner adjustment charts. They are hideously expensive, but have done wonders for the copy quality on these machines. I won't let another one go out into the field without doing the scanner auto adjustments.Comment
