    [Misc] Windows Print doesn't Staple

We received a Kyocera KM-5035 and I'm trying to set up our Windows systems to use the copier as a printer. I installed the latest KX driver v5.3.1025 on a Windows XP, 32-bit system and I got it to print.

However when I started to test the various options, I could not get the staple option to work. The option to staple was available and I specified top-left stapling, but it didn't work.

I verified that the stapler does work via the front panel of the copier.

The copier has the following versions:
    System Firmware: 146.10
    Engine Firmware: S1015H-1?20
    Network Firmware: IB-21G 1.3.3

I'm new to the Kyocera world so I don't know where I should look to resolve this problem.

    TIA

I am not familiar with this machine, but there might me an option to install the stapler module in:

printer and faxes - select printer - right click - properties - configure/options/or maybe a different tab.

Also, I was assuming that you are not even getting the staple option in the print dialogue box.

Will the machine even attempt to staple from a computer if the option is available, if so, does it jam or something?

No, I see the staple option and the hole punch option is in the "Finishing" tab. The hole punch worked, but when I tried the staple option it did not work.

No jamming since it works when I test with manual copying, setting with the touch panel, I can staple with no problems.

            Re: Windows Print doesn't Staple

The driver found the finisher and hole punch and stapler (if you can select the various options). It's just odd that it would function in copy mode yet not in the print mode. The only other explanation that I had was that it was not a Kyocera driver, but you've already covered that possibility.

There are two other things you might try:
            1) to un-install the driver, run Deleter, then re-install the driver.
            2) to un-install the driver, run Deleter, then re-install driver version 5.2.1108g.

            That's all I've got. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
            1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
            2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
            3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
            4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
            5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Are you printing more than 1 page? It wouldn't staple just one page.
Color is not 4 times harder... it's 65,000 times harder. They call it "TECH MODE" for a reason. I have manual's and firmware for ya, course... you are going to have to earn it.

                  Yes, ain't it odd...

I'll try to reinstall. I wasn't aware of the Deleter, so thanks for the tip...

The only older version I have is circa 2007 (not sure what version that one is) so maybe if reinstalling doesn't work I'll try that version. However that older version doesn't work on a 64-bit Windows 7 system. I have yet to try any installation on that system. I want to get the 32-bit XP driver functioning first.

                  Thanks....

Version 5.2.1108g is compatible with both 32 and 64 bit systems, Win2000 through Win7, so there shouldn't be any compatibility issue. If you need it, I can put it on an FTP site. I have the fully compatible 63MB version, or a 64 bit only or 32 bit only version at 36MB each. Your choice. Send a private message. (And this isn't a general invitation for driver requests. It's a one time only offer for one person. If you're someone else don't ask.)

The Auto Configure button is in Printer > Properties > Devices > Auto Configure

This version of the driver has a "Silent Configure" feature that automatically will periodically check the machine configuration, so you should not have to manually configure it or even select "Auto Configure". Should you decide to, select "Auto Configure Now" and check the results. I've found that Symantic Antivirus blocks this communication, so you may have to temporarily disable Symantic or create an exception.

Right click on driver, XP select properties, windows 7 select printer properties, top right select device settings, then about 1/2 way down select auto configure.

Watch out that the driver you are using matches the OEM destination mode setting U265. For example if you are using a CS driver then 265 should be set to 66. If you are using a KM driver then 265 should be set to 2. I recommend that you keep 265 set to whatever the front cover logo plate says it is and select and load the correct KM or CS driver to match. The KX setup routine can autodetect to match and install the driver correctly. If you did not autodetect but rather selected from a list incorrectly, then this could cause your problem I am told.
