Getting ready to replace our first fuser gear and motor on the KM6030. I've read some posts suggesting replacing the whole assembly vs the motor and gear. Besides time is there any reason to replace whole assembly?

Re: KM6030 fuser motor and gear
If I just do gear and motor I also make sure to clean all the gears and shafts and give them a lil bit of lubricant....we also started using the motor for the 620/820 machine over the 6030/8030 motor...it seemed to be holding up better for us before we pulled a lot of those machines out of the field..."In a cruel and evil world, being cynical can allow you to get some entertainment out of it."

Re: KM6030 fuser motor and gear
While you're in there and powered Off, blow as much of the rust dust off of the duplex PWB as you can. If too much of this conductive rusty dusty collects on the board you can get communication errors (C0460) and it's too late to just clean. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: KM6030 fuser motor and gear
Always the whole assembly, plus the vaccum all of the dust as Blackcat suggested!!!
I had situations when I order just the gear and motor and due to manufacturing intolerances I had to do one as soon as I changed the motor and gear and 2 callbacks later as it was too tight.( way to noisy) That was the early stage of the new parts I believe, sure they corrected it by now. Question is whether the stock of parts has been swapped for the latest parts. ..I very much doubt!
So always the whole ass'y.Comment
