    Document Feeder On Copystar CS-255 Binding

    Good Morning Gurus

    I have a customer with a Copystar CS 255 with doc feeder issues. when a single original is run through feeder there's hardly ever an issue but when you run multiple originals most of the time as the second original is being fed and the first is around the corner of the feeder and the lead edge has already passed over the contact glass and started into feed exit rollers something is binding up that I cant put my finger on. With covers off and watching the drive system everything stalls and feeder make a high pitch noise like the motors are still trying to push paper but nothings moving. I've replaced feeder maintenance kit (MK-470) removed and cleaned all clutches and ran clutch and motor test through maintenance mode. Runs fine. I'm at a loss. Thanks in advance for any and all help...

      What jam and/or error codes? =^..^=
      If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

          as far as the copiers display theres just standard document feeder jam signal with no error code. is there a section in the service mode that keeps a history with more detailed information that I don't know about that I can look up?

              Sim U000 Event Log. It's covered in your service manual. =^..^=

                  There is a shaft inside the cover that opens that turns your feed rollers...there are two hook like catches that holds a coupler in place inside there for that shaft...I have seen these break...if so you'll have to order Parts Cover PF Assy....it's pretty much that whole cover....That is something you might look at...

                      Blackcat event code under Paper Jam Log are a lot of 9410's which is a DP timing sensor stay jam which is where the original is jammed every time on multiple originals.


                      Kidaver I went back out to account to take a look and the tab on top cover was broken allowing the bushing to spin freely. I will try a new cover and see if that does the trick.

                          There are bulletins & firmware updates for the ADF on this machine.

                              Thanks Tony. When we first had this problem I did check for updates/bulletins but did not see any but it was prior to Kyoceras update as of 3/13/14. Bulletin General #97 sounds like exactly whats going on with this feeder. I'll give it a shot.

                                  Make sure you've got 6.03 firmware also, as it changed the clutch operation for jamming.

                                      Just to finish this thread with resolution the firmware upgrade and new cover assembly did the trick. Thanks everyone for your help.
