The consequences are fairly obvious ...

... but the cause isn't so obvious. I believe that the white plastic holder is inconsistently molded. The thing is, I don't think that a new part is going to be any more perfectly proportioned. Every one that I've looked at is subtly (or not so subtly) warped
What I did is measure the distance across the longest part of the belt. At the left, I found 73.66mm. At the right I found 74.33mm. So there's no doubt why the belt is walking to one side, but what to do about it? I added a folded paper shim between the spring and shaft at the short side. You can see it in the photo. I don't know if there is a nice linear formula for calculating the thickness of the shim, but in this one case, to get 74mm even across belt the shim was 1.7mm.
I believe a new feed belt is called for also.
