So are you saying you only have this issue on your laptop?
Have you tried another PC?

As I mentioned before, it worked with my previous laptop with Windows 7
So yes, I know it's an issue with this netbook with Windows 10. But I need this netbook to work, that's what I'm trying to fix

Open Command Prompt and ping printer and it shows 4 packets sent, 4 packets received and 0 packets lost

What the IP address on the reply? If it's your laptop then it's not seeing the printer
some laptops will auto switch the network port to a crossover connection. If it's the laptop ip address then your laptop is NOT auto switching and you will need a switch or a crossover cable in order to connect to the printer.

The IP address in the reply is 192.168.0.80....the printer.

So the issue is with the PC. Need to figure out how to fix the PC.

So do you have any other issues with your laptop, does it open other web pages etc OK?

Had the same problem, but I was using a crossover cable. I manually configured the adapter settings like you did, but then right click the connection and "Bridge" the connection.

Maybe a simpler solution, I carry a router ....set up your computer, router and printer. Make a small network right there and DHCP the devices to test. Much less trouble.

Never had this problem using Windows 7 on my prior laptop

Everybody else knows better than me on this, but it sure sounds to me like that's a security problem with the printer, like the older printers had with Windows 10. I think it had something to do with SMB1, but I'm probably wrong.

Turned out the issue was the printer. The Oki MB470 isn't that old but simply would not connect. Tried connecting to an older Brother machine and worked perfectly in seconds

To be sure it works, subnets and gateways are better to set them the same.


I also recommend making a bridge between the network card and the wireless. This way you have access to the internet and the DNS work (if the browser is accessed without ip).


Also you have checked that the LEDs on the ethernet card are flashing?

have you tried assigning a different IP address to the printer? then try your setup that way.
