    OKidata c5500/Fatal Error 980

    HI,
    Third time fuser has blown after only 2 to3 days. I replaced the original fuser after code appeared unaware that I had futher problem.Customer called back 3 days later with same code.I returned to see what happened and found a pioece of paper completely burned at fuser.Thought maybe I had feed problem with paper stopping at fuser when second sheet didnt feed properly ,I replaced feed roller set and fuser,Customer called back 2 days later with no burnt paper but fatal error code again with blown fuser.I have no exp. on this machine.If your a tech who works on this model can you give me some educated guesses as to what problem might be?

      Are you getting an open thermal switch, open thermistor, blown lamp ... what's blown? =^..^=
      If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

              980 refers to media sticking in the fuser; very vague. Considering the time frame we are talking about, what type pf paper are they using? The only "fuse" in the fuser system is to reset the counter when the unit is replaced. You can check it with pins 3 and 4 on the right column of the fuser unit pins. A blown fuse will read as open. There is a menu in diagnostic mode to check also.

                  Hi,Thanks for responses as always Blackcat and mojorolla.I dont think machine has protection fuser fuse,so im guessing thermistor.No fuser parts are sold seperately and fuser seems to have weld points making it difficult to take apart. Since this is second new fuser ,im wondering if I can short fuse at connector pins to simulate new fuser and then just cut machine off really quickly.Since Im not a dealer I have eaten 2 fuser units in past couple of weeks,Any suggestions other than GET A REAL TECH would be sincerly appreciated
