[Misc] MPC 306SP WIFI Set Up

    Hi all,

we're selling a few of these wifi enabled boxes now, I've never had to set one up over wifi only LAN
Just wondering if there's a setup guide covering WIFI network setup? & can a user print direct to the 306 like an air printer?

    Many thanks.

I hope you haven't already ordered the machines with Ricoh's wireless option. You can use an external wifi interface for a lot less. See this thread http://www.copytechnet.com/forums/ri...less-card.html

Re: MPC 306SP WIFI Set Up

Any of these machines I have seen with the wireless option have been very painful, at best.

Im sure that some of them work quite well and as expected, but I also have a feeling it's a very low percentage.

In all fairness, I've not yet seen a 306 with it, but I see no reason that it would be any different, based on past experience.

Good luck, but consider yourself warned.

Good point. I forgot about the onboard WiFi.

Worth a shot if it comes standard.

And when the customer finds out they could have gotten wifi for less?

I believe that the WIFI that is embedded in the SOP is for use with Smart Connect of a mobile device.

Nope the wifi card is optional from Ricoh............. your better off using a device like the netgear wnce 2001 or 3001 to connect to the nic and bridge to wifi, much cheaper option..............

I know its cheaper but its a work around, we prefer to use the official method, many of our cutomers money is no object.

In my opinion, Ricoh's wireless interface is a work around. It is a lot of work to install and you end up with the antenna wires going around the copier.

Yes, the setup guide is in the install section of the main machine service manual.

I stand corrected... I forgot that the built in wireless is not for network connectivity.

As far as cost goes, the price of the Ricoh wireless card is negligible over the term of most leases.

I think we are all trying to say that we have had some baaaaaad experiences with the option.

Another point: If you are using @Remote to generate service calls, you can almost count on the crazy thing creating calls for you when it goes offline then comes back up.
