MP C2051 not showing 'ready' or 'please wait'

    Hi guys,

I'm more than certain this will be some sort of HDD issue, but a customer currently has a 2051 that once turned on will not show Ready on the copy screen, or even please wait. I can't get into the SP mode, make copies or much of anything really. I can view the counter but cannot print it.

I want to swap the hard drive, but just wondering if there is anything else obvious to try that I've not thought of?

    Cheers

The machine can still function with the Hard drive unplugged. Just can't scan or duplex, real basic copying and printing. But at least you will know if the hard drive is the issue which it probably is.

please you may need to format the hard disk but make sure you back up your data.

Luckily they only had one scan folder, didn't use the doc server, and no user codes or anything. Stuck another drive in, formatted and set the scan folder back up. Good to go

I couldn't have backed it up without use of trying to HDD on a PC I guess, turns out the HDD and data cable were both gone
