It is plug and play (assuming you have the right one). However, the issue is most liekly that the MBU is not tightly 'plugged' to FCU so it doesn't load, or shows SC672.

Btw...MP4000/ 5000 Manual is among the easiest to find online (free) if you could be bothered to look

What do you mean "not working"?

Is there an error message of a code?

Is does the fax simply not pitch up in the options?

What jumper? It does not show up at all. We did see it briefly flash on in utility mode but then nothing.

Thanks guys. That is what I thought, I removed and reinstalled the board multiple times. No good still.

What's the product code of the fax unit, could it be the wrong one for the machine?

Maybe incompatible levels firmware between the mp4000 and the fax board?

That is the correct FCU board, but what MBU board is mounted on it? The MBU is where the FAX program is loaded. If it missing, incorrect or defective the FAX function will not be shown.

The jumper on the fax board, move it from off to on.

As mentioned, make sure the small blue jumper on the fax board is set to ON. Even on machines with the board installed at the warehouse the jumper can be forgotten and you just have to change it.
Just slide the unit out and you should be able to see the jumper towards the bottom. It will have "ON" "OFF" in very fine print on either side of a 3-pin jumper.

I had to install and uninstall the board multiple times and during this I was getting random sc672 errors. Finally on one of the reinstalls it just started working out of the blue ! Yeah Ricoh
