Anyone have a clear understanding of doing a memory clear to remove any user data and logs?

Yes this will reset the machine back to factory default.

Only use if absolutely necessary & if you have the birth certificate.

Um, ok. Not what I asked though. There are many sp actions regarding memory clear and I was just wanting to clear user address books, logs and such.

Look for UCS clear. That will clear the user data and not the machine settings. It is in the 5xxxx like the memory clear. Can't remember exactly where...

if you need to clear all data as well as above I would clear copier/printer/scanner Application in SP 5801 and format HDD
