got a 2228c from a customer as a trade.pops code 387 (yellow ) toner is low tried force toner add did not help.did add toner to dev and it improved temporarily.clutches and air pump seem to work when testing on input output.also image does not line up on color slightly off.so one problem is toner ,yellow the other is offset image.dont think they are relatwed. also seems same error with magenta when i looked at history.magenta is working though. yes there is plenty of yellow toner.also cleaned transfer belt sensor for line adjust error

that's probably a broken development clutch or maybe the level wich holds all unit in position leaves too much play so the unit can slide out of the drive - had this a couple of times but I also had some broken DV clutches. You can bend the whole lever slightly to improve a better fitting for the midldle units.Comment

check the attachment - it shows the lever AFTER the "treatment"Attached FilesComment

ok thought so , no dont thnk thats it.wouldnt you get a code 471 if the knob was out of allighnment ? i still want to point my finger at toner add problem.developer roller is turning.so will have to look at toner add problem.any other ideas let me know still cant find solution but want to use reforming lever as a last resort.will try vacuuming out tubes.Comment

Take out the Y developer unit and try turning the gear in the back, if it doesn't turn easily it's probably locked up and can't add toner. These machines tend to have the dev units lock up if not used often (hence the newer ones run internal sky shots to keep everything flowing). Replace the unit and you should be good to go in terms of the code.
If it's been sitting around for a LONG time, it could also have one of the old style developer units which had the tendency to drift forward if the machine is sitting even slightly off centre. Let us know what you find.Comment

The last time I had a problem like that, the toner feed unit, which feeds toner to the DV unit was clogged. It kind of a pain to remove, but once you do, it is fairly easy to clean out. Check the gears out while you have it out and make certain that they are not stripped.Comment

Sounds like a toner attraction pump to me, B101 3359, have had the clutches on them fail so often I'd replace it before going looking for other problems. If your overhauling your trade-in for resale I'd replace all 4 pumps as a matter of course or your only going to get major greif down the track and their a bugger of a job to change in the customers office.
Cheers,At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.Comment

I had the same problem with one of these machines, it was caused by the yellow dev not is sitting in all the way in. Instead of bending the lever I cut down a computer motherboard stay and stuck it behind the unit, havent had a problem with it since."See if you can rent a spring hook and a phillips screwdriver it will make your life that much easier..."Comment

all great ideas.kinda leaning towards air pump though.so thats the plan for today, forced toner add does not work and i can here the pump working let yall know when i get the tube out.if it is a clogged hose id like to meet the ENGINEER.Comment

I still think the DV unit is not or not proper turning wich would cause bad color registration pattern and improper toner/dev mixing inside the unir and should also be affect the image quality of course.
Talking about the unit - have you tried to use another one?

ok now adding yellow toner vacuumed out tubes solved the toner issue , still getting line adjustment error (poor cq)id sensors look good .cleaned id sensors w/ brush.led current front 147, led current center 145, led current rear 167, vsg good on all.now leaning towards a bad trans belt or id sensor. error 070707Comment
