    Mp c4503 Please Wait

Hi. I have a Mp c4503 saying please wait with the blue background graphic that Ricoh use. I have changed the control panel as I had a spare one as when the machine turns on it warm up or the fuser does anyway. It does not beep tho and if you open or shut a door it makes a few noises. But the new control panel still says Please Wait with the blue back ground.

Has as anyone has this or know what it is? Next step was Harddrives but I don't have any spares so will buy them in but thought I would check before I do. The machine won't let me on the engineer mode as screen is locked on this please wait all the time like when you first start the machine on them all. I was hoping to initialise the hard drives inside if so.

    Any help would be welcome.

Hope you all are having a lovely summer.

    Tim.

Before replacing ANY parts the first procedure should always be to update ALL firmware files.

I have a similar one in our warehouse. We got it working by replacing the Main Controller, and then re-flashing the firmware. Before we replaced the controller, the machine wouldn't even boot into "Firmware Update" mode.... The one we had was using the Smart Panel V1, so we had to swap it with the standard op panel, update the firmware, and then RE_install the smart panel.

....Have to say, I'm not a fan of SOP V1!! I like Version 2 much more!

....long story made longer...Main controller failed a 2nd time. I'm suspecting a power surge/lightning strike.

In case you have an non displayed SC 672-11 or -12 it might be a controller startup error. Possibly a loss of communication between the controller and the display panel. Possible quick fix is to unplug and then reconnect the USB cable between them. See the attached bulletin for more information.

A little more recent information in a Ricoh-USA bulletin 060. Includes actual tray problems that can be the cause plus the firmware that is susceptible.
