MP2851 can't scan to new Windows 10 computer, others still work

Customer got 1 new windows 10 computer today, tried to set up scan to folder and it times out with "Connection with the destination has failed"

Previously updated firmware and 2 other windows 10 machines still scan fine.

Tried everything in the recent "RICOH MPC4502 Can't scan to folder" thread

Error log shows - SMBC: failed to connect (03201:0x2100002) ERR:

Made sure SMB1.0 is turned on in windows features.

File sharing is on. Folder is shared properly read/write. Also turned off Windows Firewall.

Tried "ip address" and "computer name" in Path

Prints fine from this computer and I can pull up the WIM as well.

There must be a setting I am missing?

Is the new computer part of the same workgroup as the other computers? Is NetBIOS over TCP/IP disabled on the computer as this will prevent host name resolution and Microsoft Update from a little over a year ago does not play nice with scan to IP address, thinks the MFP is a spam source and blocks it. This is especially true on a domain or with multiple subnets.

Failing all that...is it possible to setup a shared scan location on the customer's network?
If it's confidential scanning you could setup a sub folder for that particular user maybe?

When I get this issue I start by plugging in my laptop directly to the MFP with a cross over cable, then try a SMB scan to your pc as you will 100% know your Win logon is correct ;O)
If that fails you know the issue is with the copier, if it works then look at the customers PC/network

If that fails you know the issue is with the copier, if it works then look at the customers PC/network

You obviously did not read his full post. If you had you would have realized that the 2851 is already scanning to 2 other computers. No need to test it with his laptop.

Check with firewall and antivirus disabled.
Also check if the share is accessible from other pc.

Thanks slimslob I will try Netbios today.
No I could not browse to the pc from the copier.
Yes their 2 other Windows 10 computers are still scanning fine.
yes I tried it with firewall turned off.

I received a call from one of the ITs, saying that their windows 10 was working fine hours before he had installed the windows updates. I asked him to uninstall those updates and scan to folder started working fine again. I just cant find my notes on which KB was it. sorry my bad

You have in Windows the possiblilty to check under SMBServer entrys (Computer Management Console, Applications, Microsoft, WIndows) for security or connectivity loggs.
If no entry exists, then you have probably a problem with the firewall/router/switch.
