Have any of the thermostats on top of the fuser jumped?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Have you checked continuity with a meter.

We had this issue before and noticed that the connector for the whole fusing/exit assembly has a small paper that obstructs it. It was caused by a paper jam that the customer didn't remove properly.
          Aye! Cut the crap

did you go and clear the codes in SM after replacing parts?

look in your manual... find the RESET ERROR CODE SP mode... reset... reboot unit.

just entering and exiting SM will not accomplish the task at hand.

Re: SC 552 AFICIO MP 5500

I have encountered bad connector blocks. When the fusing unit is installed, one or more pins will push back out of the block instead of making contact.

Also, since the error is a rear thermistor error, check the harness for that thermistor.

Until you identified and correct the exact cause of the problem, 5801 will not help. It may clear the code but the machine will immediately code again. When you cycle power, open the front door before you turn power back on. This will prevent the engine from starting which prevent coding again. If the code is still there, it was not cleared. Enter SP mode with the door still open and check the temperature of both thermistors. They should both be in the mid to upper 20s. If one is 0, negative or extremely high, there is a problem involving that thermistor.

Thanks slimslob, i have opened the doors and cleared the error. screen was error free for a few seconds apparently waiting for fuser to warm up. then after about 30.40 seconds bam!! sc 552.

so i checked the thermistor temperature and they both alternate between 17 -19.

i think the main issue stems from the fact that the fuser unit does not kick in or move at all. rollers do not turn and the new lamps i replace do not light up.. any advice would be appreciated thanks everyone. am still here after so many hours.

Both halves of the fusing connector, power supply Triacs , wire harness from PSU to connector and lamp wiring on fusing. You have an open somewhere going to the lamps.

Recently had the same issue with MP6500, replacement of the (IOB) Ass'y NO B2475128 was the fix and it took me a day to figure it out.
you can swap one if you have one on hand.

Note: Be careful with Dip switch setting when replaced.
