Can you try updating it with an SD card? You'll probably have better luck that way.

Are you using the correct remote firmware version? (not the same as the SD card/romdata version)

Doing this for more years than i care to count and being an inde for a long time.
What happens if while updating this new accnt FW you blow up the BICU and or controller unit.
Its going to be you who has to eat the boards.
And being you are not versed in these do you want to chance it.
On old machine like that i only update the FW if it is totally needed..

On those old clunkers you MUST use an SD card 500mb or less.
That would be your E49 error right there.
Format an old PS card and use that for the FW update.

Check SP5886 to enable firmware update

              Check, User Tools-System Settings-Admin-Extended Security-Permit firmware update

If you don't have an older 500MB or less SD card, you can use a software such as MiniTools Partition Wizard to create a 500MB partition on a larger card.

Hi there! Yep, use a small sd-card. Then update "sys-copy", then "engine". After these 2 updates you can put the rest on the machine. A coworker make the mistake off updating the whole fw - after that he ahd a big doorstopper, the controller was bricked. Greetings...

i cant find that sp5886, also in the extended security there is no permit firmware.

                    • i didnt know you can do that thats a great info, thanks

Now i have to say the machine works just fine, he could not scan on windows 10, thats why i went there for updating the machine.
I can always skip the update and program the machine to scan on FTP, instead SMB!!!!

as you probably already know be sure to put the sd card into the correct slot. one works and one doesn't for firmware updates.
