Did you get to do that or did it just load up and start loading toner and go to Home screen? If so someone else put in that password before you
OR are you saying that a new batch of IMC are going to start coming out with this @emea password pre installed on them?
Can't speak for all machines but this was a brand new machine delivered to us from Ricoh and I had to use admin/system@emea login to get in.

      Re: New Model IM

I remember it saying in the online training for the IM series that if you leave the admin/super. logins blank, then you won't be able to login through WIM. This hasn't been the case for us, we've left them blank, and were still able to login through WIM with admin/blank. I don't remember anything about the system@emea being a password, but I'll keep it in mind just in case.

EDIT: The only startup issue we've had (there's a bulletin for it), is that a couple of the IM430's started up in "User Setup Mode" and not "Service Setup Mode" .

Pretty sure this new series isn't going to put any techs out of work.

I haven't worked on newer machines in ages.

Sounds like a full business trend to remove the Technician from the print managed equation.

In the days of old when you drove into a service station to get some fuel, the drive-way attendant would filled up the fuel, checked the water and oil, clean the windscreen; all of which was included in the sale of the fuel. To day you drive in to the servo, help yourself to fuel, pay, and then drive out.

Is the copier industry to go the same way?
Dad: I've got to pull in to the fuel station to get some fuel.
Mom: I've got to pull into the copier station to get some toner.

Is the copier industry going to supply "toner only" nothing else?

And if they happened to have a repair bay, might even pull a plug wire loose so that when you started your engine it would run rough and they would try to sell you a tune up.

Re. Spark Plug off tune up.
The spark plug-off would only have worked on those (add politically correct) less intuitive. My wife comes to mind for some reason....

I've also heard that drawing a lead pencil trace inside the distributor cap does the same trick.

I think that now they are still new, and generally all new things work well and give that sense of indestructibility, you will see that as they start to get dirty and wear out, all the most absurd defects and problems will come out ... as it has always been

Everything points to it, shortly the technicians will be out of work.

As for the machine, in my country, the pcdu will go and change them. Although I haven't changed yet, I understand that the revealed unit has more duration than the drum unit.

There's not many dealers that will happily ship out PCDUs for customers to fit without an engineer attending site first!
My customers would be requesting them as if they were toners!

For now, sure not! But the machine is ready for it.

But with Arms/@remote to tell you the pm life and the Helpdesk remoting in etc I am sure it will be like with Toners they only send out if really necessary.

We're an authorized Ricoh dealer and we don't have access to the @Remote servers.
We've asked and Ricoh stonewalls us.
We have a program that monitors meters and toner levels...but not hardware.
Remote Service and Panel Connect won't work for us because...we're not Ricoh.
We'd have to phone each customer and tell them how to access SP modes and print out a pm counter and scan it to us....not gonna happen lol.

Ricoh has a separate product group for @Remote. Your Ricoh dealer technical support tech is the person you need to talk to in order to get contact information.
