    MPC 2500 drum/dev unit question

    hi
I never seen these in the field and just dropped off a mpc300 where the account
had a mpc2500 with cq banding only in color..
They want to donate it to their if i can fix it cheap.
It looks the cyan drum is not cleaning and dev unit is dusting excess toner.
Can i pop in a mpc2800/3300 drum in there?
Does the dev unit cross over?
I know the front covers might be different.
    thanks

Could give it a try just make sure the rj45 connector at the rear of the drum is the same shape. Use a file if not. If the machine displays pcu not set the connector that plugs into the dev unit at the front of the drum has to be altered. Hold the connector up and you can see the plastic fins holding the pins in for each individual wire. Swap the two on the right side around and it should work. Pry the plastic up with a small flat blade to get the individual wires out the connector. I'm uncertain on the dev unit working but you could just put the original dev unit back in. With the c3300 drum

      thanks.
i know about the angled corner on the black drum vs the colors and the two pin swap.
I have bought new B224-2042 drum to use on later models but I cant remember if they needed modding to work on newer machines.

It should work but there might be a pin at the rear of the machine stopping the drum going in. If so remove the pin at the rear. Think this is only for 02's though

the devel units and the mpc2500's drum are totally different to the mpc3300. If you really don't want to spend a lot of money, look for a compatible blade, lubricant bar and cleaning roller. You will last less than the original, you know.

The drums are the same and work, unsure of the dev unit but the same developer works in the original dev unit

if you mean only the cylinder and only the dust developer I agree

No the whole black unit with cylinder and cleaning parts fit

The unit I pulled out on the mpc2500 looked just like the later models but the fact that i used the mpc2500 unit on the mpc3300/mpc3501 makes me think it will work

there is a plastic pin on the back of the pcdu mpc2008 and the front cover different that prevent the correct insertion, and then the TD connector, surely it has the wires set differently.I would do this:disassemble both pcdu, and take the good parts of the 2800 clean them well, and insert them in the frame of the 2500

NOW i gotta make time to pull a wrapped drum unit and test on my mpc3300 to confirm CQ is solid and parts are
                      still good.
I have bought any drums, drum blades or charge rollers for any of these as i had bought a large lot
of new drum units from some tech and parted out ant trade ins or cheap lease returns wth low meters
