    ricoh mpc6003 SC730-01 and SC730-02

ok in the service manual these both point to the TM ID sensors front and center. i have replaced the bar? that has all 3 sensors on it. each has a tape on it with 6 numbers per sensor. and i know once replaced i went into the service menu and added those numbers for each specific sensor per what the service manual says. i still get the errors. after speaking to ricoh they mentioned replace the BCU board. i have been through the service manual. i can find the replacement steps. but can anyone tell me what the BCU board actually controls. i am a ricoh tech., but this is a first time i have heard of this one before. they also said replace the wire harness which would be what runs from the BCU to the TM ID sensors?i do have a mpc 5503 i can pull parts from. but what i did find on the BCU it contains an NVRAM. and in my experience i can't exchange the NVRAM as they are machine specific. i was gonna replace all 4 PCDU units, but i can't get past the 370-02 long enough to tell if the PCDUs make any difference. any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

also update the firmware but do not exchange the NVRAM except for a new one by entering the factory values.

          TYPO. They should be SC370.

BCU = Basic Control Unit. The engine.

Being the front and center sensors it could be the sensor shutter. It could also be the cam that locks the paper transfer end of the ITB in place. I had that break once and when the control solenoid for the shutter energized it allowed that end of the ITB to move just enough that the front and center sensors were not fully uncovered, throwing the errors.

there is no finisher. i did forget to mention. ricoh had mentioned about check the harness that connects to the sensor bar? i don't recall the technical name. but its where the 3 sensors are located. anyway i opened the right side as required to remove the transfer belt. when i opened it i noticed that the transfer belt was shredded in several places..... thanks for the info on the name of the BCU board. what exact does it control? transfer belt? PCDUs? the TM ID sensors? i am trying to narrow down the exact cause of this whole ordeal. it's back to the service manual i go hoping to find more info on the BCU, kinda hoping maybe i overlooked something. again thanks for any input.

Replace the ITB assy, the Cleaning unit and the PTR and you should be good to go.

If it is part of the Engine, it is controlled by the BCU. If you don't know what the Engine is, you need to find a less demanding career.

Looks like you found the problem. Replace and run line position. Seems like you might be making this way more complicated than it is.

                  SC 370
Probably undulation in the ITB, or belt slippage (or in your case, rippage).

i found the issue i believe. on the TM ID sensor bar? there is a metal piece that moves back and forth. it wasn't fulled screwed into place for whatever reason, inside the white plastic piece. and as for the transfer belt a piece had broken that helps adjust the belt. so the belt wasn't in proper position and i believe it snagged on something. it seems to be working fine now after 400+ pages running through it. thanks for all the input.

That is the sensor shutter I mentioned. It is supposed to help keep the sensor clean.
