    Mp2501 image quality issues

    Hello
We have a lot of Mp2501 on the field. But none of the machines reach the tsrget yield of 60k...everything is ORIGINAL RICOH... After 40k.. Sometines less.. Stripes appear, and a black line at the back of the copy... Anyone experienced the same issues with this machines?.

it happened to me on several machines, you basically have to activate the cleaning of the transfer roller, then wash the charge roller well with soap and water with your hands under the tap, and clean everything else, it happened to me twice the defective magnetic roller / malfunctioning, if you clean the pcdu's well you can get to 90-100k prints, my record is 120k!

luca72 and davel that is the charge roller not the transfer roller.

Charge rollers get dirty and require cleaning. It can be cleaned with a soft lint free cloth moistened with water. Be sure that the charge cleaning roller does not get wet. Use of after market tone can cause the charge roller to get dirty early.

When you rebuild the PCU be sure to replace the charge & brush rollers along with the drum & blade.

          Then reset the PM counters.

This charge roller looks pretty bad and charging section is damn dirty for so little copies.
Regular cleaning will improve its life but anyway it's low. I guess not the brightest Ricoh machine

We advise techs on the field to do a PM on these machines every 30K and do a cleanup on the PCDU.
The toner recycling system usually gets clogged after more than 20K.
Charge roller gets dirty and must be cleaned with wet cloth.

not to be underestimated the paper residues especially if of poor quality can damage the drum for a long time. On these models I replace the transfer roller together with the pcdu maintenance kit , also clean the laser part, glass etc.

Thank you guys... We have 50 machines on the field... We do pm regulary... But for some reasons... This series is crap.... Better the old mp2000.
It's very rare that a Mp2501 reaches 60k without any problem...usually i clean everything when i got a call from a customer with a Mp2501... But it's very cost intensive to do so... I have machines tbat have this problem after only 30k copies....

                    Re: Mp2501 image quality issues

Most of our 2501's go the full 60k.
We've had a couple that got lines after 30 - 40k, and just ended up cleaning the charge roller, vacuuming out the recycling section, and installing a new cleaning blade to get the drum and developer to go to 60k.
Our biggest issue with these was the noise the fuser pawls made, but they have since changed the design of those.

i wonder if my trick with Nu Finish on the charge roller would fix this issue? it worked on the smaller color 350/450.. actually increased sharpness of prints and the drum units started going the 120,000pg and some even more!

                      pull the roller..

                      clean with water ..dry

cover the roller in a thin film .. let dry and buff off with lint free towel..

sometimes you had to re-apply 2/3 times but they came out nice n clean and shiny black

mind you this only works on hard rubber rollers DO NOT USE ON FOAM rollers

There is something screwy with the cleaning section on these boxes.

We have had a few already where the cleaning auger seizes and causes the pcu to dump all the collected toner all over the charge roller with "fantastic" copies afterwards! It gets so bad that it breaks the gear at the end of the auger that is supposed to supply drive to it.

So far we are not sure what the cause is.

Agreed on cleaning the charge roller with water and cloth, until no remaining dirt of the cloth as you dry it.

I have had this type of toner recycle auger load up with paper lint/dust. This get worse with high rag paper. With the drum removed, use a small spring hook and run it along the edge of the auger and you will pull out a bunch of toner filled dust bunnies. Depending on the quality of paper, you may have to do this about every 30K to 40K copies.
