Ricoh 1224C color printing ghostly pictures

    Customer has Windows 2003 server
Tried both PCL 6 and RPCS Drivers

Color copies are fine, but whenever they print something (pdf files or forms) that has a color picture, the picture comes out like a ghost image (washed out, hardly any color), the black print part of the page is fine, as is any color text. We have loaded different drivers into the network, no difference. They can print the same page to thier small HP Inkjet and it comes out fine. I've noticed that when I do the machine's color calibration, the copy print out is fine, but the print page, the first color blocks are solid, but the rest are faded away, (where they are suppossed to be lighter and lighter density).

I'm not sure how involved the print controller is on these printers, but maybe whatever revolves around the controller is flaky. There may be a way to reload the software in the controller.

I had a Fiery controller on a Savin 413 that did something like this and I had to reload the software for the fiery, which did fix the problem.

Hopefully someone can give you more advice, but you're probably not going to get much luv on these boxes, as they are not a favorite.

For whatever reason, this machine does things different for copy and print. Not really sure what - had better things to do than learn the ways of the devil...

Check the fuser nip band - had a different color machine do that when the user flipped the latches that remove spring tension from the pressure roller for "envelope" mode.

Also check the charge wire and laser slit glass

Option 2: Find a tall building & push it off the top

Option 3: Roll it down the side of a mountain

Option 4: Roll it into your next service meeting along with a sledgehammer and charge $5.00 a swing

Option 5: Push it in front a big truck on the freeway

      Option 6: Explosives.

Bottom line - If you're still fixing these, you've done something to really piss off God and I'm not sure I should be associated with you

        Firmware version 1.253:01

To ensure proper printing quality, the default values for the following SP modes have been revised while some SP modes have been added.
-SP3-920-001 (Lubrication Cleaning Time) ( ): previous default
        [0 ~ 100 / 50 (100) / 1% /step]

        [0 ~ 30 / 14 (20) / 1s /step]
-SP3-922-001 (Lubricant Clutch OFF: 1C ): Newly added
-SP3-922-002(Lubricant Clutch OFF: 2C/3C/4C): Newly added
        [0 ~ 11 / 6 / 1s /step]
Allows the image transfer belt-cleaning clutch off timing to be adjusted. The setting determines the number of seconds after image transfer belt cleaning roller charging that the clutch is turned off. With previous versions, the clutch is always running while the development roller motor rotates.

But Option 5 is the best: Push it in front of a big truck on the freeway, hehehe...

I have had a couple of these that simply would not pass the ACC.
Like you the colour scales were washed out or pale.

In the end I performed Print ACC and put a printout from the copier ACC printout on the glass and fooled it to pass the scan.

Then perform print Print ACC again and it passed and it changed the colours to the correct density.

If you are Ricoh certified on anything you should have a tech ID number - Register on tscweb.net and you can get the latest firmware and bulletins.

And as suggested by several other techs:

Option 7: Large Vat of acid

Option 8: Gallon of Diesel Fuel and a match

Option 9: Donate to BigFoot Monster Truck event

              Option 10: Car Crusher

Option 11: Have a local artist turn it inside out for a satanic modern art display.

Option 12: Donate several to the same modern artist to make a gigantic DaVinci's cradle
