SMB Scan to Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Has anybody set up scanning to SMB to AWS before? Customer recently switched over and hasn't been able to get it to work. They have Kyocera 5501i copier that however does work and all the settings are exactly the same. All firmware is up to date on the Ricoh and verified it's using port 445.

    Edit: It's a Ricoh MP 6503

Is the scan being rejected with a red error light or does it directly go to waiting and memory remaining 99%?

If it works, don't touch it.

It's getting a "Connection with destination has failed error" once you scan. When switching to IP address instead of host name the same error pops up but takes a bit longer before the message comes up.

Double Check with the customer if the password they have provided you is correct. Compare the login user name as well with the Kyocera Are the DNS on both machines an exact match? Do you have SSL enabled on the Ricoh Copier ( Not just selecting SSL in the smtp server info screen).

It DOES sound like an authentication issue eh....

I'd use the user name and password they provided to log into the website with one of their computers to confirm they are valid.

From within User Tools at the 6503, not WIM, can you successfully test the connection?

Again at the console, as soon as the attempt fails go to User Tools - System Settings - Interface click on the Print settings button at the top right. The last page of the print will be the communications log and will contain the actual error message(s).

Was able to confirm that yes password is correct I had IT login and it worked via Windows Explorer. Their Kyocera as well as a Xerox copier are all using the exact same scan to folder settings and those are working but their 2 Ricoh devices are not. SSL is confirmed on at the copier as well. All copiers are on the same IP range.

Was able to confirm with IT that user name and password are correct. All their copiers (Xerox, Kyocera, Ricoh) are all using the same exact scan settings and authentication. Only the Ricoh's are not working.

I've been working remotely with their IT but I had them go through the address book management and test through there and it fails when hitting the server. I'll have to get a hold of them again to print out the comm log reports.

Here's the scan log page. Hopefully I uploaded it correctly.

Clear as day, name resolution error. Have them check the second and third DNS settings. Unless Amazon provides their own global DNS servers I would go with Google's, 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. First DNS must must point to your local DNS.

try to check that the time is correct on the machine, to make it simple: some authentication mechanisms are based on the correct system time for sharing a key, then also check: if the user is using a google account, in the google settings, I recently discovered that there is a flag for "allow the use of less secure devices" it seems to me that it says ... let us know when it's ok

I would also add: that error code (03201) happened to me (in my case) when the antivirus firewall didn't make the smb name visible to the mc, I created a rule that allowed that ip address to access, but since we are talking about amazon I don't know how helpful this action can be

Also check the time zone setting. Example, here in California new machines come from Ricoh set for east coast time. When you just change the clock in User Tools the time zone will not match your public IP address.

Google is in the process of discontinuing that.
