Ricoh IM C3500 Tray 1 Jamming

I just set up a used Ricoh IM C3500. When I print from tray 1, the paper does not feed through the finishing unit. It seems to stop just as it enters it. Running the same paper with the same settings through the bypass tray works fine. Any thoughts on how to resolve this? Thanks

What id the Jam code you are getting? Not the letter but the numeric one in the form of Jxxx where xxx is a three digit number. That number will indicate what sensor detected the jam and whether it was a lead edge jam or a trail edge jam.

I used the same paper setting for tray 1 as I have it for the bypass, with no luck. firmware is updated.

Paper did not reach the entrance sensor of the intermediate transport in time. Since it is only tray 1, I would say you may have a problem with the tray 1 feed module. SP 1-003 Paper buckle for tray 1, increase by 2 for the weight of paper you are using.

Did this machine always have a finisher?
The driven rollers (exit rollers) on the machine MUST to be replaced (and came as accessories with the bridge unit), when a finisher was installed or you will have VERY frequent jams at the bridge unit entrance.
The originals are sort of 'barrel shaped" , The replacements are 'flat'

sandmanmac - Yes it has a finisher. Why would it only happen with tray 1 and not the bypass tray, using the same paper and settings?

Using the Service Program.. That is what SP stands for. If you are an end user, call your nearest Ricoh Family Group dealer. If you are a tech trained on some other make, get a service manual.

                          I obviously know i has a finisher.
I asked if it ALWAYS had a finisher (since it's a used box).
If you don't want to at least confirm that the correct rollers are installed for the bridge.....that's fine by me.

slimslob - Thanks again. Not always easy to get a tech to come out promptly, so trying to figure some of this stuff out my self.

sandman mac - Wow! Not really sure why such a harsh response. I'm just trying to solve my problem here. The finisher was part of the unit when new. The rollers are round/ barrel shaped and not flat. If the exit rollers are the problem, shouldn't I expect jams in other trays besides tray 1?
