If the prints are good & both scans AND copies are faint, the optics are all clean try updating the firmware.

It has an Optical Reading Unit, not only a mirrors arragement, so it is a high risk to clean it, it must be dismantled to do so. Besides, it works in a very clean environment. Using a flashlight i can see it clean. Thanks a lot anyway, and i will double check it!!Comment

No need to dismantle it fully. You can clean the bottom glass just by tilt abit ccd. Beside, it quite easy to clean, just careful that you wont unplug ffc there.Comment

Question. Have you made sure the white plates are clean in the scanner and adf? Is there a density difference between the adf and platen copies? I would try SP 4646-1,2 for the white and black levels. If that corrects your image from platen, then test adf image. SP 4680 adjusts adf image density to match that of platen glass.I've proved mathematics wrong. 1 + 1 doesn't always equal 2.........

The procedure for cleaning the scanner cartridge mirror is covered in the Replacement and Adjustment section of the service manual. And while you have the platen glass off to clean the mirrors. clean the bottom side of the glass👍 3Comment

yeah, that's what I like about ricohs and kyocera, fairly easy access to clean the mirrors. lexmark is a whole different story. oh lexmark says its factory sealed and can't get dust on the optics. just who exactly are you trying to lie to there lexmark?👍 1😀 1Comment

Thanks Slim, I never knew this procedure existed. I've always done it with an optical brush through the opening in the scanner assy. I rarely have to clean these out much, but next time I'll know.I've proved mathematics wrong. 1 + 1 doesn't always equal 2.........
