    Ricoh C3003 reset Magenta toner

Ricoh MP C3003...Using OEM toner (and all supplies), Machine works maybe a day then "reset Magenta toner. Toner is full, tried a new OEM tube, same. I replaced the tension springs on the white holders. I could feel the increased tension on the white holders, thought all was well...happened again. Replaced the RFID sensor for magenta, same. I put a "cushion " on the rear of the toner tube so it gives pressure against the door, when closed, it works. So clearly i'm not getting a good contact with the toner chip and the rfid sensor. Any ideas ??

OEM does not mean Genuine Ricoh.

As for needing the "cushion" there was a bulletin put out on that about 7 or 8 years ago. There is a spring in the toner tray that has deformed and needs to be replaced.

I don't know if this will help, but some time ago, I had an MP Cxx03 machine not recognizing one of he colours ( i think it was Cyan), and it only cleared once I cleaned and vacuumed around the other colour hoppers - specifically the RFID sensors. I don't know why one would throw another for a loop , but it did in this case🤔
      Good Luck

There was a bulletin on this issue, replacing the springs that hold the bottle in have been modified to stop the toner bottle loosing contact with the RFID board.

Slim, as I stated...I replaced the tension springs with the new style springs (per the tech bulletin). And I am using OEM, Genuine toner. (2 different tubes)

I did clean the toner hoppers while I was doing the springs. The function of the "cushion" on the end of the magenta tube just allows the door to press the toner in against the rfid sensor.

I appreciate all suggestions and ideas...I'm stumped

Does it say Genuine Ricoh on the box, If not them it is not. OEM is a term used by after market sellers to make consumers think the are getting the real deal. OEM does not get the quality testing that Genuine goes through.

Ricoh C3503 Genuine toner is all we use. We don't need the issues associated with generics or "knock-off" toner

I will re check the rfid sensors are correctly installed and clean, insure the hoppers are clean and new style springs are installed correctly.
I will respond with solutions if found.

I do appreciate all the responses and suggestions, thank you

try scraping the chip with very fine sandpaper and check the contacts in the housing

I had the same/similar problem before, I think it has passed about a year since I've done this silly fix.
My resolution (doesn't mean it will work for you) was that I've opened the backside of the copier, made room and took out the little toner hopper with motors, those contain the toner reading chip. I've cleaned the backside of the chip where contacts are soldered to the little board, don't be surprised how dirty it is (my thought is that since toner has some iron dust in it - that makes a shirt circuit between pins on the backside of the chip), and clean those contacts for good, also wrap it in some electrical tape or squeeze some hot glue on those.
Since that little "fix" I haven't had problems on that machine. Ofcourse I've tried all of the above, different toner chips, bottles etc.
Also, as GIUBOSS mentioned, fine sandpaper solution is a no brainer since you're that deep already.
It's quite an easy job, I sincerely hope it works for you as it has worked for me.
                  Good luck!

This also worked for me. I used hot glue to seal the contacts, and never had any more problems with it.

Your method will fix SC681 errors as well.

Finally I can follow up on this issue with success ! After replacing the holder springs and the rfid sensors, I still had SC681 errors weekly. I needed to perform a firmware update, but due to a "secure" location, I had to involve their IT people. I performed the update and used the hot glue suggestions per above ( THANK YOU ).

It's been 2 weeks, no more SC 681's ! Many Thanks for the suggestions.
