    mpc 2504ex

I have a mpc 2504ex that the black cuts out or has a very light image. Only the black is affected. If you print a counter page maybe the first couple inches are washed out and the rest is ok. On a color test page and the colors are fine but black is gone or washed our. I tried replacing the pcu and ITB unit and neither took care of the problem. It always does it on the second side of a two sided copy. It will only do it every so often on a single side. Any thought before I dig into it? I am going back with firmware and Lasor unit today. My account says I am a newbie but I switched companies and created a new account.

it could be the developer unit internal broken maybe, but send us the "pm counter status" to have a complete picture of the consumables situation

its not the dv unit. I replaced the complete pcu ,dv unit and pcu. Its almost like its loosing voltage. After talking with the customer they said they had a power outage and it started after that. So I am going to go back with a few boards and firmware. I just wondered if someone had this problem before so maybe I could try their fix first before getting to involved with it.

Also bring the complete power supply box, on the 2004ex and 3004ex unlike all the others I have had a couple of them blow out, not with that problem though, but it also happened to me after a power failure, perhaps on that particular model they are a little weak.

this! so easy to forget to swap this over. or the foil that contacts the shaft of the dev may have gotten bent and is not contacting the shaft properly

The problem ended up being the black developer solenoid sticking. Ricoh has a video on this problem. The pad rots out and gets sticky. I took one off a Junker and problem solved.

It happened to me once, it would be enough to put a little talcum powder on the sponge or simply remove it, shorten the spring slightly, the problem hasn't recurred for months.

Often you can just remove the pad and it will work fine. Will get a bit of clicking noise when the solenoid energizes. That is why the pad is there, to reduce the noise.
