I have a machine that when doing corner staple it pulls the first sheet of paper back into the machine to correct portion then spits all the rest of the sheets out of the exit and then staples just the one sheet.. I have tried my best to wrap my brain around what would cause this and coming up with nothing. I was in hope that soon here has seen something similar.

No that is the other thing odd it just doesn’t pull the paper back in to staple it just comes out into the tray after the first sheet and staples as if all sheets were presentComment

OK it was actually my other tech that had gone until today. You can run as many sheets as you want and it works perfectly on the first set and then the second set the first sheet never gets back into the stapler and sheets crash together but for the most part make it out of the machine in a mess.Comment

I found this so will give this a shot.
KB Number: KB0155958 KB use count: 13
Model: IM 7000
Cause: Not given
Issue: Jamming when doing multiple staple jobs. First job works fine, second gets in too early i think and then i hear a clunk and paper gets folded.
Resolution:
Replace Horizontal Transport Motor and Sensor.Â

Check the metal hook brackets inside the staple stacking area that the pages are pushed against for stacking. I have had a few of the hooks get bent down narrowing the gap for the pages. There is also a mylar attached to the upper part of the hook. with the narrow gap and mylar the pages wont stack properly for stapling and the staple may miss those pages. The angle of the bends of the hook should be pretty much 90 degrees👍 1Comment

The latest on this. It will run one set all day long no matter the number of sheets. When the second set starts the leading edge appears to be hitting something and causing it to curl which means the remainder of the sheets go into the curl the stapler goes through its motions and drops the staple inside the finisher and spits out the sheets to the exit tray jumbled up and not stapled. I have another machine right beside it to compare the 2 and can not for the life of me figure this out.
I am actually looking for another finisher now as this has grown old for me and my customer and it is a State Contract machine with 2 more years on the term.Comment

Since it does not occur on the first set, I would suspect that the pre-stack is not set properly. Pre-stack delays the lead edge of the next set. It prevents the lead edge of the first sheet of the next set hitting the previous set before it exits the staple position. Depending on the finisher and speed the number of sheets that enter the pre-stack can be increased. Slower models it is only on or off the. The setting is in SP6 and often specific to the finisher. Read the setting information carefully. For some 0 is on or 1 sheet and -1 is offComment
