MP C2500 manually emptied drum units by mistake - does not print

    Dear all,
I have a Ricoh MP C2500, and for the past few weeks, the colors have been smudging during printing. I then removed the drum unit and emptied the toner particles from it (I mistakenly thought it was the waste toner container) and cleaned any leftover toner with a microfiber cloth. I then reinstalled it.
However, now it no longer prints any color (only a small strip at the very top of the paper). If you shake the drum unit and print again, you can see a faint color for 1-2 pages, but then it disappears again.
Does anyone know how/if it can be fixed?
    Thanks in advance!
    BR

If you mean that you emptied the developer units you will need a trained technician to replace developer for you. Could be time to update this old machine.

At least it is old enough that developer was sold separately. Listed below are the part numbers if you can find them. Precession Roller shows them all to be out of stock as well as the development units.

      B230 9640 Developer: BK
      B230 9660 Developer: C
      B230 9670 Developer: M
      B230 9680 Developer: Y

        That was an expensive mistake.

Since it is such an old machine I would look at getting it replaced rather than ordering all the developer ,especially as you had a quality issue before, that fault will still remain most likely it needs a PCU.

Thank you so much for your quick responses! I found the developers at a good price on eBay and have ordered them—I'll let you know if they work. If not, I'll consider purchasing a new printer otherwise

There are a few reliable eBay sellers for parts. I've been able to luck out and find things there that have been out of stock elsewhere or at a better price than my vendors can offer.

Remember that it is not enough to install the new units, but you have to initialize each of them, as well as maintaining this old machine first if you want acceptable results, not to mention the usual wear and tear problems. Good luck.

Dear all, thank you for your help! The developers have arrived, and I’ve installed them, and my printer is printing again. Unfortunately, the initial problem is still not fixed, as there are still stripes in cyan and magenta during printing (see attached PDF). I’ve already replaced the OPC drums for both colors, but unfortunately, the problem persists. Do you have any idea what could be causing this? BR

Back to my original message, after replacing the developer you still have the original fault.

Since you have replaced the cyan & magenta PCU I would now look at replacing the transfer cleaning unit. Part number

Did you replace cyan and magenta complete PCU or just the drums?
